Last week we flagged up the ingenious “satcoms”, the comedy sketches you can download to talk you through your car journeys on the M6. Well, now here’s something for pedestrians: Soundmaps.
At www.soundmap.co.uk you can download (for a fee) walking guides as you stroll through London, narrated by authors and historical experts. Hear how Brick Lane became the multicultural beacon it is today, or remember the cooler Kings Road of the Swinging Sixties, before it became Sloane central. Sadly, the guides are only available for the capital at the moment, but with any luck they will soon take off elsewhere, too.
